Smile After
After Close-up Tooth whitening is a safe and effective method for restoring a brighter, more youthful appearance to your natural teeth. It is less costly than other esthetic procedures. We offer two types of whitening treatment: 1) at home treatment, 2) in-office treatment and 3) a combination of both in-office and at home. Both treatments offer the same level of whitening potential. For patients that want immediate results, the in-office treatment is preferred. For patients that want to personally control the level the whitening, the at home treatment is recommended. Some patients opt for a combination of both types of treatment, beginning with the in-office method, following up with the at home system to maintain the desired level of whitening. For at home treatment, impressions for whitening trays are made during the first appointment. Within a week, the patient can return to the office to pick-up the custom clear trays, a supply of pharmaceutical-grade whitening gel and instructions for home usage. The duration of treatment is based on the initial color of the patient’s teeth and the desired whitening level. Patients are given a color chart to monitor their progress. Generally, patients reach the optimal brightness within three to six weeks. Trays may need to be worn occasionally for color maintenance. If you elect in-office whitening treatment, this will require a single 1 ½ hour appointment. During this appointment, the hygienist will apply a concentrated peroxide gel spread onto your teeth. For the next hour, you will remain seated in the dental chair, while a special high intensity light is directed onto the paste which activates the whitening agent to complete the bleaching process in as short a time period as possible.
